Supporter of the week 16

Now that the dust has almost settled. Now that the nerves are back from overload. We get back to some kind of normality with this week's Supporter of the Week.

This week we give you Christine and Peter Ferguson, once from these here parts but now 'emigrated' to down south. Still with Warriors blue in their blood.
Enjoy.
Favourite Ground ...
We haven’t travelled much with Warriors but have enjoyed the few grounds we have visited.
Kingspan because that’s where we watched the mighty Glasgow Warriors win the Pro12 final.
Allianz because of the fantastic time we had with Saracen fans and our friends before, during and after the game.
Best experience...
Our first visit to Kingspan with David Settle to watch a Pro12 match.
On the way to the match went into the Errigle Arms, in full Warriors colours, to be met by a sea of red! Lots of laughter and shouts when we were spotted!
We went back after the game and had a great time with the Ulster fans ... that’s rugby!
What does it mean to be Warriors Supporter?
Pride in all our players, old and new. Proud to wear Warriors colours. Helped us make good friends when we moved to Glasgow.
If you weren’t Warriors supporters, who would you support?
Has to be our “local” team now we have moved to Derby ... Leicester Tigers.
What do you miss most?
Everything!
Everyone who sat round us in the main stand, atmosphere in the Clubhouse, excitement as the noise builds in Fortress Scotstoun, atmosphere in The Old Schoolhouse Fanzone.
But most of all the friends we made!

Supporter of the Week 15

This week's Supporter of the Week is none other than our one and only Committee Member (Treasurer), travel companion and.......friend Beth Anderson.

P.S. some of the photos are good.
FAVOURITE GROUND, BAR SCOTSTOUN, AND WHY
Stade de Garland, Lyon for all sorts of reasons! Light festival in Lyon itself, most hidden supporters bar, best shop and merchandise but also their lovely fans. Honourable mentions for Racing 92 both old ground and new and Stade Rochelais.
BEST EXPERIENCE AT A GAME, MOMENT ETC., HOME OR AWAY
Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein. First game in South Africa but definitely not the last. Hospitality was great and then invited into the Cheetah’s Den after the game with the team. Special evening in a great country.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS’ SUPPORTER
Catching up with friends, supporting the team no matter what and travelling the world to support them.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT THESE TIMES
I mIss the atmosphere in The Clubhouse before the match and after, sitting in the North Stand with my friends shouting ‘advice’ to the touch judges. I miss everything and can’t wait to get back.

Supporter of the Week 14

And for this week's Supporter of the Week we give you.....Mr and Mrs Nairn! 😁 We have bumped into Cammy and Viv over the years both home and away and if I recollect, there is a photo of Cammy on a wall in a restaurant in Rome! Least said about that the better. 😂😂 Anyway, I digress. Cheers!
FAVOURITE GROUND, BAR SCOTSTOUN, AND WHY?
Kingspan simply because of the atmosphere that day, the Pro 12 Champions final 2015. It was amazing to see all the flags and as for the noise, I don't know if anything will beat it. We have returned since to watch the Warriors play Ulster with friends from Ireland.
BEST EXPERIENCE AT A GAME, MOMENT ETC, HOME OR AWAY?
It would be easy to say The Pro12 Final of 2015. But another great day was the Heineken Cup final the same year at Twickenham. We met up with some wonderful people that day, especially ones from Ulster who we have kept in close contact with. In the Orange Tree Pub we met lots of fellow Pro12 team supporters. That is what rugby is about. (see photo)
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER?
One word 'Family'. It is a night when my wife, son & I can meet up, have a few drinks & watch a game. The people we have met since going the Warriors games, either at Hughenden, Firhill, Scotstoun or on our travels have been amazing.
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?
I have a soft touch for Harlequins as I love the strip. Also Ulster due to the friends we have there.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT THESE TIMES?
I really miss the people & banter in the North Stand where we currently sit. Again we have made good friends with the people who sit near us.

Supporter of the Week 13

Now that the dust has settled and you are sitting back relaxing, cup of tea/coffee on the go, toast almost ready (other breakfast choices are available) and have a massive smile on your face have a read at our next Supporter of the Week post.

This week we give you Pamela White who is also one of the Committee, a North Stander and chief Twitter!
Enjoy....
FAVOURITE GROUND, BAR SCOTSTOUN, AND WHY?
Is a difficult one, it’s a close tie between Kingspan, Belfast which was home for me for a few years, and Montpellier’s home ground. Both hold some really good memories for me.
BEST EXPERIENCE AT A GAME, MOMENT ETC, HOME OR AWAY?
Again a tough call, obviously our win against Munster at Kingspan in the 2015 league final, but reaching the European Champions Cup Quarter final against Saracens in 2017 was a spectacular trip, the sun was shining, the Prosecco flowing and the atmosphere even after losing was priceless. It really defines the rugby community at large. There’s also our win against Racing 92 in December 2016, meeting Dan Carter and seeing our boys so confidently take him and the Racing92 squad of 2016 on and win was amazing. But the absolute best part of these trips is catching up with old friends and making new ones.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER?
It sounds like a cliche but it’s the atmosphere, it’s the people & there’s nothing else like it. Travelling alone to games be it league or European, you’re never alone for long, a Glasgow supporter never travels alone.
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?
That’s a tough call, it could be Ulster after my years in Belfast, I saw Tommy Seymour play his first and last game for Ulster along with his first and last with Glasgow. Another option could be Racing92, their style of play is very like Glasgow’s.
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT THESE TIMES?
I miss seeing the supporters the most I think. The atmosphere we create at Scotstoun is something else and I can’t wait to be able to make some noise at Scotstoun! I already feel sorry for our first opponents for that game! I miss getting to travel for rugby too, getting to new places like Montpellier at Christmas, or Racing in Paris and getting the opportunity to support the boys on trips like these is pretty special.

Supporter of the Week 12

This week's Supporter of the Week has a slightly different angle this week. Instead of one we have two! We give you a lovely couple that we don't see enough of during a usual season. First bumped into these two scallywags at a Racing game in Paris and been friends ever since. One of the great reasons that we love this game.

FAVOURITE GROUND, BAR SCOTSTOUN, AND WHY?
Michelle - Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Montpellier, it was the first away match that I went to in October 2014. The game was great and we won against the odds, weather was fantastic, and combined with great French food and wine it made for a fabulous weekend of rugby.
Jim - Stadio Comunale di Monigo in Treviso. Not the best stadium to get to, and those plastic seats!! But it has always been a great weekend with friendly and hospitable locals who enjoy celebrating no matter the result.
BEST EXPERIENCE AT A GAME, MOMENT ETC, HOME OR AWAY?
Michelle and Jim - both agree that it has to be Belfast for the Pro12 Final. The game doesn't need describing to any Warriors fan, but the Guinness tent before the game and especially afterwards was something else! It was bouncing!
Jim - also got to mention the match at Welford Road in 2017. Leicester Tigers is our local team to where we stay, and to be there that night when the Warrior Nation was out in force, along with lots of our Tigers mates was awesome. A score of 0-43 and qualifying for the Knockout stages was the icing on the cake.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER?
Michelle - it's the camaraderie that the fans and team share. As we live in England we go to very few home games, so the weekends away that we have with all the fans (lots of the usual suspects) are something that I look forward to and reminds me of home. Also seeing a player from my wee village in Ayrshire play for the Warriors filled me full of pride - we miss you Gordy.
Jim - been supporting Glasgow since before the professional era and it always amazes me how far we have actually come. I've lived outside of Scotland for 30 plus years, and when I'm home I've always tried to get to see them. It definitely lifts my spirits when I do, despite some of the results I've witnessed over the years, but I will always be a fanatical supporter regardless of how they perform.
IF YOU WEREN'T A WARRIORS' SUPPORTER, WHO WOULD YOU SUPPORT?
Michelle and Jim - We would both support Leicester Tigers. Our local team and been to see them lots over the last 10 years. Our daughter even tried to 'tap off' with Finn when he played there for Racing 92 a few years ago!!!
WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST ABOUT THESE TIMES?
Michelle and Jim - we miss going to the games and seeing live rugby, but most of all we miss meeting up with the Warriors family for amazing times, great banter, and some fabulous, memorable evenings. Also making sure Martin Clarke gets back to his accommodation safe and sound, but Mandi has relieved me of these duties in recent years.
